This park is located in Arcidosso, inside the Mount Labbro Nature Reserve, and it is surrounded by chestnut and beech woods. It belongs to seven nature reserves of Mount Amiata (Monte Labbro, Pescinello, Rocconi, Poggio all’Olmo, S.S.Trinità, and Mount Penna). It covers 494 acres and aims at safeguarding the local fauna, which includes deers, fallow deers, roe deers, mouflons, Apennine wolves, and over 120 species of birds. There are also domestic species such as horses and the “Amiatino” or “Sorcino Crociato” donkeys of Mount Amiata – a native breed that has risked extinction.
In the park, visitors can enjoy wonderful excursions on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike along a thorough network of suggested trails – including a 3-hour trek to the summit of Mount Labbro to enjoy a spectacular of the entire valley. Many educational activities are also available at the Visitor Center of this park.
Please note: it is strictly forbidden to leave the suggested paths and annoy the animals.
Comfortable shoes, binoculars and a camera are strongly recommended!
