Montiglio Monferrato is a town perched on a hill overlooking the Versa Valley, in the heart of Monferrato; this town is also called the “City of the Sundials” because it boasts about fifty such ancient clocks, restored or created by the local artist Mario Tebenghi.

The town is dominated by an imposing castle of medieval origins, with a three-storey tower resting on three orders of terraces; it was later enlarged to house some extra structures for a family of nobles gathered in a “consortium”.
Inside the castle, there are several rooms with a medieval structure, mullioned windows and cross vaults, as well as elegant XVIII century halls which, every year in June, host “Castello in Musica” event.

The castle is surrounded by a large park rich in botanical species, and featuring the XIV century chapel dedicated to Saint Andrew, adorned with frescoes from the Giotto school of Maestro di Montiglio: one of the most precious examples of XIV century art in Piedmont
