This forest is found between the municipalities of Vallelonga and Torre Ruggiero, on the Serre Calabre Mountain Range; those two municipalities are located, respectively, in the provinces of Vibo Valenza and Catanzaro. Calabria is a region embraced by two splendid seas with a spectacular mountain range and several beautiful natural parks.
This beech forest grows at about 2.620 ft of altitude, enjoying the currents generated by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea, with a remarkable thermal inversion.
This cool microclimate is ideal for the typical vegetation of the mountain environment, even at relatively low altitudes.
The forest of Monte Cucco grows on the central northern slopes of Monte Cucco, 3.146 ft high, and its several springs which make the microclimate perfectly suitable for the beech trees that have grown here for centuries.
