The museum is located in the village of Maierà, which was chosen by “Accademia Italiana del Peperoncino” because of its plantations of  cangarillo, the king of Calabrian chili peppers. The museum path is divided in different rooms: “Fantasia di ogni parte” treasures objects of various natures ad origins inspired by chili peppers; “Le vie del peperoncino” contains documented explanations on the origins of the plant; “Storia, Pianta, profumi e sapori” shows the different types of seed, spices and sauces of chili peppers and there are panels which show the evolution of the plant and its use by pre-Colombian populations, which were the first one to employ it; “Ricettario” contains illustrated element of a Prescription pad of 1586 ; “Satira” shows the satirical exhibitions on chili peppers.
