Oasi degli Angeli Farm

Eleonora Rossi and Marco Casolanetti are the very young owners of “Azienda Oasi degli Angeli” in Cupra Marittima, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, a few miles from the sea. For them, the human factor is a true added value to their successful wine production.
The farm crops stretch on some 100 acres, 37 of which are planted with vines, while the rest features olive trees (Olea europaea), cereals, and hay.
Montepulciano is the only type of grape cultivated there, vital for producing a most pure Kurni wine, with outstanding and constantly surprising high-quality.
The vines, some of which are forty years old, are cultivated with the “gobelet” training system, better known as a “pot sapling”. The plant density is quite high, up to fifteen thousand plants per hectare – with a yield of just 2.5 tons per hectare – which well reflects the company philosophy, mainly focused on quality production, even if available only in small quantities.
The proximity to the sea makes a significant contribution to the production, which can thus benefit from the mild climate throughout the year, especially in the pre-harvest period.
The soils near the coasts are mainly clayey and give the wine its typical aromatic notes (some of them similar to those of the plant species of the Mediterranean scrub coastline). In fact, the plant species in the nearby precious dune and coastal ecosystem – which are currently threatened of extinction – feature a remarkable quantity of essential oils (both in the vegetation and in the blooms): an important component that is constantly enhanced the localized lack of water in the summer months.
