Oasi Monte Polveracchio, Oasi WWF del Monte Polveracchio, Oasi del Lupo

Polveracchio Mountain Oasis, also called wolf’s oasis, is located inside a Site of Community Importance (SIC IT8050052) in the municipalities of Senerchia and Campagna (Sa). It is also a special protection area (ZPS IT8040021). It extends on a mountain area for about 200 hectares of beech tree wood in the heart of the Picentini Mountains.
Fagus sylvatica together with Acer opalus neapolitanum, mountain maple trees (Acer pseudoplatanus) and chestnut trees (Castanea sativa) are the most present species. Crocuses (Crocus spp.), violets (Viola spp.) and Ranunculus spp. Bloom in the clearings.
The main animals are wolfs and their species is one of the last remaining of Southern Italy. There are also wild cats and fire salamanders and italic tritons, which live in water. Rock partridges are some of the birds present in the oasis.

There is a visitors’ centre, picnic areas and nature trails inside the oasis.
