Paolo Barillà, the owner, has recreated in his home of Colorno a corner of paradise thanks to numerous varieties of ancient fruits and vegetables, which were all cultivated in the respect of biodiversity with a biodynamic and synergic method.

In his ‘Òrt Antìgh’, this is the name, he has collected numerous varieties of ancient fruits, legumes, vegetables and aromatic plants among which he is able to identify small plants apparently identical and of which he knows the story, the properties and the anecdotes.

His favourite collection is the strawberry one. “Some years ago, in a small market, I donated to a person a small plant of wild, white strawberries, then he explained most of the characteristics and many of them were still unknown to me – tells Paolo. After that, I discovered that that person  was Francesco Casalini, the owner of the greatest Italian collection of strawberries. It included 127 varieties and the wild white one was missing. Thanks to him, now, I have 28 varieties of rare strawberries”.
