Osasco Castle

Built around 1400, Castello dei Conti Cacherano is located in the Municipality of Osasco, a few miles from Pinerolo, on the road that leads to Rocca di Cavour Special Nature Reserve.

It was built by the Princes of Acaja di Pinerolo and later modified. The current appearance of a noble residence can be traced back to 1700, when it used to be the noble abode of the Cacherano counts of Osasco.

The modification works involved the addition of an elevated floor above the battlements, the frescoes on the facade, the halls, a portico surmounted by arcades (which was then closed with windows during the 1800s), and a stone bridge to replace the drawbridge at the entrance.

Currently, Osasco Castle still belongs to the Cacherano family, who rent it for private functions every year, including a Tolkien-inspired event at the end of May.

The property includes a recently remodelled farmhouse (“Le Quattro Torri”) which offers catered and overnight accommodation.

The park and the garden

Built during the transformation works in the 1800s, the park was designed by architect Benedetto Alfieri. It surrounds the Castle on the south and west side. Structured with the typical landscape style, it features centuries-old trees; a monumental arch connects it to the XVII century Italian garden embellished by an exquisite boxwood parterre.
