“Riviera delle Palme” identifies the stretch of the Marche coast that runs from Cupra Marittima to the Tronto River, passing through Grottammare and San Benedetto del Tronto; it features thousands of palm trees, mainly of the Phoenix canariensis and Phoenix sylvestris species.
In San Benedetto del Tronto, among public and private gardens and along the city avenues, there are a total of about 8.000 palm trees of various species, which have long been a sort of symbol of this lovely city on the sea. The gardens are themed according to the different plant species, one of them is a “multisensory” experience, and they were all built on the seafront.
In the town, it is possible to visit the Museum of fishing and seafaring civilization, with a collection of amphorae, as well as the quaint fishing port with the beautiful lighthouse.
Every month of June, the special event “Anghiò” (“anchovy” in the local dialect) takes place, offering food tasting opportunities and a blue fish-based product showcase.
