Park of Villa Reale di Marlia – Collection of camellias and exotic flowers

Between the end of winter and the beginning of spring, along the avenues of this park 40 different cultivars bloom with different shades of red, pink and white.
This collection is one of the most important in the Lucca area, where the cultivation of these species is exceptionally well-rooted.
Some of the Camellia japonica specimens come from the Gardens of the Royal Villa of Caserta, the residence of Giuseppe, the king of Naples and the brother of Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi (Napoleon’s sister) – she was also the princess of Lucca and the Grand Duchess of Tuscany, as well as the owner of the Villa since 1806.
