PeoniamiA is a business producing and commercialising cut peony plants and flowers  to make flower decorations for events and ceremonies.

It was created in 1992, thanks to a far in time idea and project, which find their origins in the rustic tradition of the Malaspina family and their passion for peonies. In the garden of  Riniera, on the first hills of  Castel San Pietro Terme, grew some ancient arboreal peony plants, which have been flanked by many herbaceous ones. From studies, observations and tests on the fields and exchanges of ideas with other floriculturist, scholars or simple passionates, the project of producing them has been developed.

Nowadays, PeoniamiA cultivates on two hectares a wide variety of herbaceous ones, with simple-semi double- double flower, premature and late, in different colours from white, to cream, yellow, pink, red, whose flowers are collected and sold at the end of April and the beginning of June.

The sending of small quantities is done through express couriers with delivery in 24 hours, inside cartons with water reserves to preserve the flowers.

PeoniamiA produces and sells also peony plants, in vases or with bare roots. The first ones are sold all the year long in the nursery or during the exhibition-markets to which the business participates. The others are sold between October and January, in the nursery or through express couriers’ sendings with the right packaging.

In addition to peonies, the business cultivates also some rustic bulbous plants, such as Sterbergia lutea, Cyclamen hederifolium, Iris Hollandica, Nacissus tatzetta ‘Orientalis’ and ‘Flore Pleno’ . Their bulbs have to be booked within the month of June and can be bought in July, August and September.

Next to the nursery, there is the elegant 19^th century villa La Riniera, where the present owners live, Lucia and Niccolò, with their sons and daughters. The ground floor includes a charming B&B apartment. It is composed of a double room, a comfortable sitting room, a small kitchen and bathroom, with vintage furniture and ceilings with frescos, the entrance faces the principal one Lucia will be happy to tell you about the world of peonies and Niccolò to show to cyclists  some of the best routes on flat lands and hills, which have been discovered in the last 25 years of exploration of the vicinities.
