Piazza del Piano Gardens

The Gardens of Piazza Delpiano, in Turin, were built in 2007-2009 to embellish the residential development of the former “Materferro” factory area – four large residential blocks with shops on the ground floor overlooking the newly-built square.
The project was entrusted to the landscape architects Marco Minari, Paolo Mighetto, Alessandra Aires and to the agronomist Guido Giorza.

In the centre of the square, decorated with rows of Prunus “Kazan”, there is also a stone amphitheatre for shows and parties. Opposite this facility, there is a green area decorated with ornamental locust trees and cypresses (Populus nigra “Italica”) which houses a children’s play area.

In the central section, a canopy offers some pleasant shade designed to accommodate small outdoor markets. In front of this area, several beautiful plants were installed, including large rectangular tubs of Cortaderia selloana and other ornamental grasses with different heights and colours. The latter are arranged in degrading rows, moving in the wind and thus simulating an expanse of water.
