Riserva naturale Pineta di Ravenna is a natural area protected by Emilia-Romagna which extends on a surface of 709 hectares. It is included in the wide Parco regionale del Delta del Po, which protects the ancient pinewood, an ancient wood wrecks with an extension on both sides of Canale Candiano uniting Ravenna to the Adriatic Sea .

The origins of the pinewood  date back to the Roman Empire, when it was planted in order to produce the wood necessary for vessels. During the centuries, the pinewood has undergone a reduction of its original dimensions and now the area is divided into smaller not adjacent pinewoods.
