This beautiful downy oak (Quercus pubescens) can be found within Poggio al Vento vineyard, owned by Tenuta Col d’Orcia, on the southern side of Montalcino (Si).
It is at least 250 years old, with a large 82-ft crown and a trunk measuring 5.9 ft in circumference. The natural entrenchment process typical of senescence has already begun. This magnificent tree has unfortunately suffered from the recent hot summers.
