“Gran Bosco di Salbertrand” Natural Park extends stretches on the right side of Val di Susa for approximately 9.326 acres. 70% of that area is covered by the forest (acknowledged as a Site of Community Interest), while the rest features high altitude pastures and meadows.
This reserve was established in 1980 to protect the vegetation and, in particular, the precious fir trees and the extensive groves of larches. It includes over 600 plant species and rich fauna, with about 70 species of nesting birds and 21 species of mammals; deers are abundant, as well as roe deers and chamois.
The highly popular “Gran Bosco” includes an internal area interdicted to the traffic and several others for leisure activities.
It takes about one and a half hours to walk across the wood, on an easy and straight path, also suitable for strollers.
