Saline di Punta della Contessa Natural Park

Saline di Punta della Contessa Natural Park is made of a series of coastal wetlands with basins fed by freshwater canals from the hinterland and separated from the sea by a sandy beach.
There are three different wetlands called: Salina Vecchia, Salinella, and Enichem reservoir.
FLORA AND FAUNA
The vegetation consists mainly of beach grass (Agropyron junceum) and tufts of Marram grass (Ammophila arenaria).
After the summer, the basins show rich vegetation of spiral ditch grass (Ruppia cirrhosa). This area is an important breeding haven for rare bird species and plays a role of utmost international importance in the protection of migratory and aquatic species.
