The large San Siro Park, adjacent to the sports area of the Hippodrome, is a vast green area in the west of Milan. Born in an ancient rural area, today it follows the ancient boundaries of the farms, through large tree-lined avenues, and huge lawns.
The park was created in 1971 on a former agricultural area. It stretches over more than 123 acres with beautiful meadows bordered by double rows of trees and small woods. The central avenue runs alongside Fontagnola Cagnola.

Today, the park is part of the largest green area in the western part of Milan, along with Boscoincittà, Parco delle Cave, and Parco Montestella. It is also fitted with sports and recreational areas.
The actual rows of trees were planted on the original borders between the crops and the irrigation ditches which can now be explored on foot or by bicycle.

The relationship between this area and the water is clearly visible in the main resource for irrigation – Fontagnola Cagnola.

Inside the park, there are two ancient rural structures: Cascina Bellaria to the south, and Cassinetta di Trenno to the north; there is also a British War Cemetery, where 417 World War II soldiers of the Commonwealth are buried.

Among the main trees, there are groups of Eastern white pines (Pinus strobus) near the abovementioned cemetery.
