Stigliano Botanic gardens

These are century-old gardens, found in the Roman Tuscia area. Etruscan and Roman inhabitants were the first to discover the thermal waters in this place, thus making it a renowned spa. Nine different springs and two streams are part of these gardens and were first opened to the public in the XVIII century when a small church and a hotel were built nearby. The whole compound now looks like a small hamlet, which has been recently restored to its former beauty after almost one century.

THE GARDEN

Luxuriant flora spreads across 50 acres and benefits from the thermal streams underneath. Visitors can simply follow the above mentioned natural springs to discover maples (Acer spp.), centenary oaks (Quercus spp.), holm oaks (Quercus ilex), oaks (Quercus petraea), kernels (Corylus avellana), tamarisk trees (Tamerix spp.), giant bamboo and pine trees (Pinus spp.). The resident fauna includes herons, hawks, owls, porcupines, badgers, foxes, weasels, and martens.
