The ancient estate of San Fabiano has been owned by the Borghini Baldovinetti de ‘Bacci Counts for centuries, as evidenced by a document dated 1416 in which the sale of a vineyard by Francesco de’ Bacci is duly recorded (to finance the frescoes by Piero della Francesca in the Family Chapel).

The property is located in San Fabiano, in the province of Arezzo, a few miles from the ancient walls that surround the city and extends over the slopes of the Casentino, north-east of the city. This valley was under the feudal control of several historical families of Arezzo, including that of the Baccis.

The actual farm is located on the ancient road to the sea, used for transporting food and running across the whole valley; it then reaches the Casentino mountains and the city of Arezzo.

The farm was born in the post-war period as a wine business but then, in the 1960s, it was further developed also as a bottling and distribution facility.
Today, the Conti Borghini Baldovinetti de ‘Bacci estate covers some 2100 acres: 494 of them are planted with vines; the same estate also includes those of San Fabiano, Campriano, and Poggio Uliveto.

The first estate is a few miles from Arezzo and houses the company headquarters; the second one is between Casentino and Valdarno, and it’s used for cultivating the grapes of the main Crus. The last property covers some 74 acres in Montepulciano and can benefit from truly splendid exposure.

The area with the vineyards is mainly hilly with altitude ranging between 820 and 1.476 ft. The soil features medium-textured marlstone mainly.
