Ticinello Park

This is a large green area south of Milan, covering no more than 217 acres and not that far from the city center. It is actually part of the South Agricultural Park and inside it, there are the two Campezzino and Campazzo farmhouses – the latter is still active in the production of cereals and cow fodder. Campazzino farmhouse, on the other hand, is currently in ruins.

The name “Ticinello” comes from the irrigation ditch which, emerges from its main underground course, running across the territory.

This park is a great example of the classic local countryside, in which rows of poplars coexist with cultivated areas, and the marshland; hornbeams, oaks, elms, and ashes are abundant as well. There are also many interesting birds like great tits, woodpeckers, sparrows, blackcaps, and finches, while it’s not uncommon to see herons, little egrets, and wild ducks.
Not to mention butterflies, dragonflies, wild rabbits, hares, and hedgehogs.

Parco del Ticinello Association is very active and takes very good care of this facility open to the public. In 2015, the Municipality acquired the whole area and devised a plan for the creation of a landscaped park, full of naturalistic and cultural values, as well as agricultural activities coexisting with the green areas reserved to the public.
