Trisobbio Castle

Trisobbio is an ancient village of Monferrato whose origins seem to be Etruscan.
In medieval times, the village worked with its own system of weights and measures and used to profitably trade with the city of Tortona and the Liguria Region.
The Castle, dating back to the early 1200s, must have had the very appearance that we can still see today. After several changes of ownership, in 1862 the building was was in a very bad and neglected shape. It was completely restored only in 1912, thanks to a project by Alfredo d’Andrade on behalf of the Marquis Carpaneto Spinola.
The extensive restoration works included the construction of an imposing crenellated tower, which can be still admired today.
The castle is surrounded by a garden enclosed within its walls – the green area is full of centuries-old trees. In 1989, the property passed to the local Municipality which carried out further restorations.
Today, the castle is used as a charming restaurant-hotel.
