Val di Gresta Carrots

Carrots (Daucus carota) are vegetables rich in carotene, vitamins B, C, and D, as well as minerals, with good sugar content.

Carrots from Val di Gresta, in particular, are known for their crunchiness, intense orange colour and high content of sugars and mineral salts.

They are sown on fertile soils, with poor and deep texture, in April and May; the cultivation rows are some 9.9-inch apart from each other, featuring about 100 seeds per 3.2 linear ft.

These carrots are sold from the end of July to March of the following year. They must be stored in boxes filled with damp sand, in a cool place; when kept in the fridge, perforated plastic bags for food would do, at a temperature of 3-4° C (37.4-39.2° F).
