Velenosi Winery

In 1984, two very young entrepreneurs – Angela Piotti Velenosi and Ercole Velenosi, founded this winery, with a clear goal in mind: to achieve high levels of quality without altering the biological rhythm of Nature.

The heart of the company is located in the historic city of Ascoli Piceno, about 12 miles from the sea and at an altitude between 492 and 656 ft.
The crops cover 260 acres in the area of Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsanpaolo, Castel di Lama, in the province of Teramo, and in the district of Marcelli (Ancona). Soils are mostly clayey and quite fertile, perfectly suited to the cultivation of vines.

The vineyards extend on the green slopes of the hills, where there are also several broad-leaved woods consisting of chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill. ), and beech trees (Fagus sylvatica L. ) – all around the wondrous valley of the Tronto River.

Success in winemaking is achieved thanks to the combination of the centuries-old family heritage with modern production techniques, keeping alive the passion and dedication to the vineyard. With this philosophy, the new cultivation systems feature a remarkable plant density between 6.000 and 9.000 specimens per hectare; a new irrigation system has been set up to successfully compensate with droughts and occasional lack of water.
