Villa Clarice

Villa Clarice, in Fermo, was built around 1870 by Countess Clarice Bonafede. The facade appears vaguely neoclassical. Inside, there are many valuable frescoes, mostly by Egidio Coppola (1852-1929), who lived and died in Ascoli.
All around the main building, there is a large park of 7.5 acres mostly featuring Mediterranean vegetation. In addition to majestic lime trees (Tilia cordata) that offer some shade to the long driveway, many large trees grow there, including holm oaks (Quercus ilex), laurels (Laurus nobilis), pines, and several species of palm trees. The latter species can survive very well thanks to the favourable microclimate of this area.
The villa still belongs to the noble Bonafede family who live inside it.
