Villa de Brandis

This villa was built between 1718 and 1724, then given, including all its furnishings, to the Municipality of San Giovanni al Natisone
by the Countess Caterina de Brandis, the last descendant of this noble family.
Villa de Brandis contains several important collections such as the “Quadreria”, with paintings made between XIV and XX century, and a large number of original wooden furnishings and curios (XVI-XIX century).
There is also the family library (about six thousand volumes published between 1501 and 1980), the photographic archive, and the papers of the noble archive in the Civic Library, adjacent to the rooms reserved to the museum.
At the back of the villa, there is a centuries-old park, designed according to English park style, with magnolias, palm trees, beeches, hornbeams, cedars, limes, large thujas, and a suggestive central pond.
