Villa dei Ligustri – Parco Giardino dei Ligustri

Park dei Ligustri was once Villa Corsi and it is a garden recovered by the most degraded areas of Loreto Aprutino, a project of 13 years which started in 1998.
The central part of the park is the historical alley formed by Cupressus sempervirens, two big specimens of Buxus sempervirens between the age of 100 and 130 years old and hedges of Ligustrum lucidum and Laurus nobilis.
Thanks to the specimens of Buddleja davidii, Ligustrum vulgaris e Ligustrum chinensis, Lythrum salicaria, Vitex agnus-castus, Lippia citriodora and Salvia officinalis, the garden is visited by butterflies, which are attracted by the species of flowers, and a show of bright colours is created. There are some themed gardens in the park -”Giardino acquatico”, “Giardino delle rose”, “Giardino delle Yucche” and “Giardino delle Palme”-, numerous points of interest all over the year and vegetal specimens such as a huge jasmine (Jasminum officinalis) which grows holding on to one of the cypresses.
Some of the reeds of Phyllostachys nigra are disposed to form an arch, which gives access to the rose garden: on these reeds grow roses which create a suggestive and colourful environment.
Villa dei Ligustri is the legal home of “Coordinamento Nazionale Alberi e Paesaggio Onlus”; where many meetings and guided tours, which must be booked in advance, are organised.
