Villa Godi

Villa Godi Piovene was built in 1597, on a former XVI-century building, and designed by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzia, in Sarmego di Grumolo delle Abbadesse (province of Vicenza).
The Villa and the Garden
The villa stands out for its austere and majestic architecture. The plan of the central body is typical of that of the Venetian villas of the first half of the XVI century: a large central hall flanked by six rooms. In the first half of the XVIII century, the architect Francesco Muttoni built the current “barchesse”, arranged the garden, and probably erected the double flight of stairs leading to the loggia.
The villa is surrounded by a 6.1-acre park with monumental trees, including large specimens of Lebanon cedars (Cedrus libani), long avenues and caves.
