Villa Guarienti-Brenzone

Villa Guarienti-Brenzone was built in the first half of the XVI century for the humanist Agostino Brenzone and based on a design by the architect Sanmicheli.
It stands on Punta San Vigilio, Lake Garda – the westernmost part of Mount Baldo as well as the most prominent emerged area after Sirmione peninsula. The main façade of the villa faces the lake, extremely visible to sailors in ancient times.

THE VILLA

It looks like a large building with arcades and stands in the middle of a garden full of ornamental plants, marble statues and neoclassical gravestones. The villa hosted illustrious personalities, including Pietro Aretino, Marie Louise of Austria, and Tsar Alexander II. Other structures are annexed to the villa, including a very ancient church dedicated to Saint Vigil, and another building with a double loggia overlooking the marina.

THE GARDEN

The Italian garden is mainly made of native species, with wondrous specimens of cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens), olive trees (Olea europea) and lemons (Citrus × limon). In addition to the lush vegetation, there are many marble busts, statues, and tombstones with Latin and Italian inscriptions which still bear witness to the acculturated taste of the founder of the villa.
