Villa Soglia

Villa Soglia, ex Palazzo Conforti, is located in the municipality of Castel San Giorgio (SA) and it was built in the first half of the 18th century on the ruins of the palace of the prince of Salerno (building of the 16th century). The residence belonged to the family Sarno Prignano, who refurbished the building and adjusted the park. Ferdinando Sanfelice was the appointee for the refurbishment: the monumental staircase, the gardens, the stables, the colonnade of the entrance alley and the external finishes were done by him. The building was then transformed in a hotel in the modern age.

THE PARK
The villa is surrounded by an enormous park of about three ha, which towers over the villa and develops on the surrounding hill with a three-level terracing. The park had originally not only a decorative function but also a productive one: it includes orchards, vine yards and a “giardino delle delizie” rich in arboreal species, which date back to the original residence.
