Vini Ronchi Varesini

The land around Lake Maggiore offers very fine vineyards producing quality wines, officially acknowledged as IGP products (EU Protected Geographical Indications – PGI).

The name “Ronchi” refers to the typical “terraced cultivation” around Varese, extremely popular since the time of Carlo Borromeo – today, there are some 50 acres of such vineyards in this area, shared among several wine producers. Their products come from non-aromatic white grape varieties, or grapes made of at least 60% of black varieties like Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo, and Croatina.

Cascina Piano Farm, in Angera (VS), is probably among the most interesting and famous wineries in this area.
It’s on via Valcastellana.
