This vineyard in Airole is set up like a trench (“A trincea”) and produces the famous Roccese red wine in a most rocky mountain area – hence its name. The mild climate allows such ancient traditional techniques to plant the stumps in the little soil amongst the rocks, safeguarding its autochthonous characteristics. The surrounding landscape is painstakingly protected as well, while the very vineyard has been cultivated according to the ancient XIII century tradition, in full compliance with the parameters for environmental protection and respect for biodiversity.

In 2013, at the 47th edition of “Vinitaly “ (Verona’s wine competition and exhibition), the Roccese “a trincea” was officially awarded among the best international red wines.
