Canal Novo Valley Nature Reserve
This post is also available in: Italiano (Italian)
This Reserve stretches over a total area of 300 acres. It’s actually in a former fishing valley, a lagoon locally known as “Corniolo”, and includes some farming land.
It is a variegated ecosystem, with wetlands and waters with different degrees of salinity.
A Lagoon Visitor Center can be found in the Reserve, not far from the village of Marano: it was designed as the typical Anglo-Saxon Wetland Centers. Old-fashioned “casoni” (typical buildings of the past) and brand new structures host a wealth of instructional and research tools, as well as state-of-the-art technologies which let visitors discover and study this enchanting lagoon in details.
Several birdwatching huts have been erected as well, along with an aquarium which offers an in-depth observation of the lagoon and its fascinating flora and fauna.
Individual or group classes are available: a wealth of information will be provided, to discover and engage with such a unique territory, its nature, its culture and its history.
