Lido di Volano is a sea locality in the municipality of Comacchio. It is the most northern of the seven Lidi di Comacchio, the nearest to delta’s Po and it is the most interesting from a naturalistic point of view.
Together with the beach, Lido di Volano posses a wide pine wood of 169 hectares which are part of Riserva Naturale Statale Po di Volano, rich in particular vegetal formations, birds and other animals (see the data sheet); the pine wood extends itself towards South for 6 km between the inhabited centre, Lago delle Nazioni and the sea till the locality of Bocca del Bianco.
Because of its isolated position and its major exposure to winds and sea currents, the lido has become the reference point for the ones practicing sail sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
