Villa Tavernago, which was once Villa Cigala Furgosi, is located in the vicinities of Agazzano (PC).
It is a monumental, neoclassical residence inside an important historic-naturalistic context, which became property of the counts Cigala Fulgosi in 1855, they descended from an ancient family of Cigala, who came from Germany and got to Genoa in 893. It was handed down to Borromeo and now it is owned by the Pirovano family. It is located between the garden in the northern area and the park in the southern part. It is possible to reach it through a long alley with lindens implanted in the 19th century. A double row of poplars is perpendicular to the alley.
The garden in front of the villa presents a mixtilinear neo-baroque fish pool, decorate with putto. The 19th century park extends itself behind the villa and it is formed by magnolias, lindens and Lebanon cedar trees, and by two sinuous alleys flanked by English oaks, hornbeams, lindens and plane trees which surround the wide central meadow for then uniting around the lake of water lilies, fed by a natural spring. At the centre, there is a small island reachable through a masonry bridge built with river pebbles. Nowadays, the villa is a hotel, which used for weddings and events, but the park is open to the public if booked in advance.
