This park covers 45 miles along the Mincio River and reaches thirteen municipalities; it also includes many sites listed in “Natura 2000” – a network of sites of Community interest, and of special protection areas created by the European Union – and several nature reserves.
The park is mainly flat, but there are also some valleys formed by the emissaries of alpine lakes.

The main points of interest and reference for visitors are the Bertone Park Center and the Rivalta sul Mincio Park Center. The first one is immersed in a green area and also includes an outdoor playroom, and the re-introduction centre for white storks. The second, located in a former rural building overlooking the river, houses the Ethnographic Museum of river crafts.
Given the huge size of the whole area, these two visitor centres are actually found in different municipal areas.

There are several excursions and visits available such as the one around the castles of the morainic hills, the paths along the banks of Mantua lakes, near the Gonzaga palace, the Etruscan site of Forcello, stork-watching in Bertone, canoeing, and visits to the Mincio valleys on electric boats or motorboats from Mantua. There are also several pedestrian and cycle lanes across the park, many of which run alongside the river, from the mouth of Lake Garda to the three lakes of Mantua.
Bike rental is available as well.

Many themed packages are offered to the tourists, including art, nature and traditions, well-being, food tasting, family activities, sports, nature, navigation, cooking, and local produce tasting.

Valli del Mincio Nature Reserve, the coastal villages of Rivalta, Grazie and Soave have been recently recognized as tourist destinations of excellence (EDEN – European Destinations of Excellence).

Between the municipalities of Rivalta and Goito, there is a huge, centuries-old Quercus robur. Its trunk has a diameter of 17 ft and reaches a height of about 98 ft. It is a tree included in the lists of monumental trees in Italy, and it is believed to be part of a hunting lodge of the Gonzaga family.
To reach this majestic tree, visitors must ask permission to go through private property on 117 main street in Sacca.

Campers and motorhomes can be parked in the lots near Mantua, Curtatone, Monzambano, and Ponti sul Mincio.
