Palude di Frattarolo (Frattarolo Swamp) is a wetland covering 1.235 acres, 635 of which are protected as a natural reserve for the wildlife. This reserve is located in the Gulf of Manfredonia, inside Gargano National Park.
In the past, this area used to be flooded by the Candelaro River which helped coping with droughts.
This area is an important resting and nesting place for many birds, including grey herons, black-winged stilts, moorhens, marsh harriers.
