The State Reserve of Monte Barone di Mattinata is in the southern area of the Gargano Promontory, in the province of Foggia.
Established in 1977, it extends over 306 acres on some of the mountain area with the same name; it is mainly identified by woods of Aleppo pines (Pinus halepensis). In the clearings and in open areas, there are scrub-garrigue and pseudo-steppes with abundant herbaceous plants.
