Capo Rama Nature Reserve, located in the Municipality of Terraini, was established in 2000.
This 140-acre area includes Capo Rama Promontory and the neighbouring coastal areas; it is also part of “Cala Rossa e Capo Rama” Site of Community Interest (SIC IT020009).
Its management has been entrusted to the Italian WWF, which thus protects one of the most evocative and beautiful stretches of the Sicilian coastlines.

On the abovementioned promontory, there is also an ancient watchtower, offering a magnificent view of the inlets, the peaks and the caves generated by the erosive action of the seawater.

The local flora includes Arthrocnemum fruticosum (shrubby glasswort), Crithmum maritimum (sea fennels), Glaucium flavum (yellow hornpoppies), and the endemic Limonium bocconei.

A small plateau is covered with of Chamaerops humilis (European fan palms), with sporadic Olea europaea var. sylvestris (African olive trees), Pistacia lentiscus (mastic trees), Teucrium fruticans (shrubby germander), and Phillyrea latifolia (mock privets).

The typical fauna of the scrub and rocky coastlines features Vulpes vulpes (foxes), Oryctolagus cuniculus (European rabbits), Erinaceus europaeus (European hedgehogs), and a large number of birds.
