Rhododendron Honey

Rhododendron honey (Rhododendron hirsutum or Rhododendron ferrugineum, depending on the area) is produced at altitudes between 3.937 and 4.921 ft, using the “nomadic” technique, which allows the production of high-quality, single-flower honey. The hives are, in fact, moved from one place to another, according to the presence of different nectar plants.

Rhododendron honey has a very delicate flavour, a light scent, a very light colour (almost white), and a pasty appearance when crystallized. It used to be the most appreciated remedy against coughs and colds, melted together with warm milk and herbs.

Today, it is recognized for its tonic properties, beneficial effects for arthritis and the nervous system.
