Val Ferret can be found north of the Courmayeur Basin and at the foot of Mount Blanc.
It is crossed by a branch of the Dora Baltea River, one of the main tributaries of the Po River.
The valley stretches on several steps, featuring a series of small historical settlements not permanently inhabited. It reaches Switzerland in its northern part, on Col Ferret (8.343 ft).
The plain of the Dora Baltea River in Val Ferret features a lake environment and is surrounded by partially wooded slopes and a hunting reserve.
Val Ferret is a well-known tourist destination thanks to the town of Courmayeur; in winter, many skiing enthusiasts enjoy its famous slopes which offer breath-taking views of this enchanted valley. There are many mountain shelters favoured by spring and summer trekkers as well. In particular, the trail dedicated to the mountaineer Walter Bonatti, at over 6.561 ft of altitude, overlooks a truly spectacular landscape.
