BOTANICAL CARD
Belonging to the Salicaceae family, it is native to central-southern Europe and eastern Asia.
It grows on fresh and humid soils, often found on floodplains and along the rivers. It can reach a maximum height of about 99 ft.
The bark of young specimens appears quite smooth, while in older trees it looks wrinkled and deeply fissured. The leaves are arranged in a spiral pattern and their shape can be triangular or round.
Poplars play an important part in wood arboriculture, used for paper pulp, plywood, and packaging; they’re also appreciated as ornamental plants.
