Bortolo Nardini distillery, the oldest Italian one, was founded in 1779, along with its grappa production facility, in Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza; it’s actually located on the Ponte Vecchio designed by Palladio and a true icon of the city.

In 1860, the company introduced a radical innovation: the traditional direct fire distillation was replaced with a steam-based one, which gives the final product a most peculiar taste.

The grappa production facility has remained unchanged over time, so much so that it has been awarded the prestigious title of Historical Place of Italy and today it’s still a very popular gathering place the locals and the tourists alike.

In 2004, the Nardini family celebrated the 225th anniversary of their company, having a new modern structure designed and built by the architect Massimiliano Fuksas: he named it “Bolle” (“bubbles”), to celebrate the true tradition and cultural heritage of the world of spirits and liquors. In this new structure, there’s the research laboratory, the product quality control, and a multifunctional auditorium.
