Cusumano Winery

This winery is in Partinico, in the province of Palermo. The history of Diego and Alberto Cusumano’s company began over forty years ago when their father, the owner of several large plots of land in Sicily, produced concentrated must for Northern Italy.
Wine production came later, in the 1980s, when the best clones of traditional Sicilian varieties began to be selected and planted, such as “Insolia” and “Nero d’Avola”.

Today, the company owns more than 988 acres, in different estates located in the most suitable areas for viticulture.

San Giacomo estate is in the southern part of Sicily, within a most beautiful landscape with peculiar and most unique features. Vines are cultivated on 346 acres at the height of 1.148 ft above sea level, including 50 micro-areas which dramatically boost ripening.
This estate is characterized by the white colour of the “trubi”: geological formations made of limestone, clay and sand, also rich in mineral salts. The light colour of the ground reflects the sunlight, emphasizing the natural texture of the soil.

Ficuzza estate was established at 2.244 ft above sea level: a remarkable temperature range is probably the most striking feature of this area and offers some spectacular sights when the snow falls in winter. It extends over 467 acres and features loamy-clay soil, extremely suitable for white wines.

Presti e Pegni estate stands at 820 ft of altitude and features a clayey and compact soil, which gives the wines a great complexity. Low hills and gentle slopes are constantly blessed by light breezes that help disperse the heat in the hottest hours of the day: over there, the sun brightly shines from sunrise to sunset.

Finally, Partinico estate houses the barrel cellar and the company headquarters; inside it, there is an ancient “baglio” (a typical Sicilian building which features a courtyard), and the tower of Saint Charles, dating back to the late XIX century; the winery actually encircles the latter and gives its name to the entire district. Near the “baglio”, there is a beautiful garden with citrus fruits and other typical Mediterranean species.
