Buscemi is a small town of about 1.300 inhabitants, located in the Syracusan hinterland. It stands on the 2.624-ft high hills that overlook Anapo valley, rich valuable archaeological finds. The local agro-pastoral economy has strongly influenced the landscape, disseminating it with important traces of the rural civilization.
This suggested itinerary it’s an inter-municipal, ethno-anthropological route across Buscemi-Palazzolo Acreide, and passing by “Santa Lucia” water mill and the Museum of the wheat mill.
The route develops almost entirely in the historic centre of Buscemi. In this peculiar “town-museum”, visitors can discover the strong link between man and his workplace in details, comparing it with present times and getting to know much more about ancient architecture, activities and traditions.
The itinerary features eight different exhibits: authentic workplaces for processing agricultural products (palm grove and oil mill), original craft shops, and several storage areas which thoroughly describe the socio-economic implications of the peasant world.
