Giardino Botanico Caplez

Giardino Botanico Caplez is located in the locality of Cappelluzzo in the Piacenza area at 730 meters of altitude, which is reachable both from the Pavese and Piacenza slope. It was built in 1990, at the initiative of the lawyer Massimo Cantoni, naturalist and passionate about botany. It was then enriched by the actual director Cristina Schindler and it was opened to the public in the Spring of 2010.
In a area 15,000 square meters of calcareous soil, about 1,800 plant species coming from all over the world are hosted. The bush collections are particularly interesting, they include spiraeas and philadelphus, as well as the numerous perennial species belonging to the Campanula spp., Centaurea spp., Eryngium spp., Nepeta spp., Penstemon spp., Phlomis spp., Potentilla spp., Salvia spp., Scutellaria spp., Sedum spp., Stachys spp., Teucrium spp., Verbascum spp genres.
In addition, there are also endemic species, which are on the verge of extinction.
