“Il Fiore dei Fiori” Nursery

“Il Fiore dei Fiori” was established in the countryside of Recanati, in a place rich in history and traditions, where poetry meets art and the real atmospheres of the past. It’s an enchanted natural landscape housing what is also known as the “great greenhouse” of the Magagnini brothers. The famous “Colle dell’Infinito” celebrated by Giacomo Leopardi, the ancients walls of the village, an ancient spring which dates back to 1700s, and the remains of ancient Roman and local civilization will most surely take you back in time.

Sedum (stonecrop) nature carpets associated with wild carnations was one of the biggest achievements of this nursery. A huge quantity of Sedum “meadows”, conveniently packed in rolls, have already left Masino to decorate the whole wide world.
In America and in the UK, the so-called “green roofs” are surely already knowns: big companies like Rolls-Royce and Nintendo boast real and huge Sedum moors at their facilities. Alessandro Magagnini, the owner of the “Il fiore dei fiori”, said that it all started by observing the roofs of his country, where Sedum grows spontaneously among tiles, brought by birds, the wind, etc. The superficial roots require very little soil: a thin layer of non-woven fabric or coconut fibre and a thin one of light soil mixed with a little pumice is all it takes.
A metal mesh will allow you to modulate shapes and volumes to your liking. In the summer, flowered expanses of bright yellow, white and pink shades will thus embellish any garden or park planted with stonecrop.
