Library of Trees Park

The Library of Trees is a new public space, centrally located in Porta Nuova, and organized in three main areas: the largest, between Melchiorre Gioia, Via Pirelli and Via de Castillia; a second one on the underground car park of Piazza Luigi Einaudi; the third one along the strip running along Viale della Liberazione, to Piazza San Gioachimo and its churchyard.

Different routes and connections are among the key points of the original project, as well as the perfect way to blend the park with the surrounding areas, buildings, and neighborhoods.
Is inspired to a modern “romantic garden”, with a beautiful collection of trees, rich and variegated vegetation, as well as several public spaces. There are linear paths, winding through the park with a connecting function, the irregular lawns – housing ornamental and architectural gardens – and the round forest, made of groups of trees with relaxation areas.

There are 500 trees of 22 different species, spread over 8.7 acres of lawn, and almost 135.000 plants including hedges, shrubs, creepers, aquatic plants, and ornamental varieties in the gardens designed by Petra Blaisse and Piet Oudolf.
