Oasi Fluviale del Molino Grande is located inside Parco regionale dei Gessi bolognesi e Calanchi dell’Abbadessa.
It is the first oasis realised by WWF in the province of Bologna and it represents an important  ecological connection between flora and fauna.

It is characterised by a riparian wood section, which is safe-kept  by  the Idice stream and flanked by a path passing through the vegetation.

The nearest wood to the stream is dominated by poplars and various willow species, while towards the interior area, the soil is sandy and composed of species typical of dry hilly environments, such as Quercus pubescens, of which there are monumental specimens, manna ashes (Fraxinus ornus), maple maples (Acer camperstre), apart from the exotic and infesting locusts (Robinia pseudoacacia).
In the Southern area, there is a small swamp, where particularly rare-botanical species grow, such as water lilies (Nenufaro nuphar) and Numphoides peltata and a wide dry lawn e un with wild peerage trees (Pyrus piraster) and elms (Ulmus spp.).
The fauna includes sand martins, bee-eaters and kingfishers.
