The International Outdoor Sculpture Center can be found in Baron von Mumm’s Castle, inside Portofino Park. It is famous for its extraordinary botanical heritage.
Along the winding green walkways, there are sculptures of about fifty contemporary artists from the early twentieth century such as Arnaldo Pomodoro, Giacomo Costa, Francesco Messina and Anna Chromy. The latter’s “Marionette Dancer” – a dancer in the act of jumping into the sea from a height of 33 ft. – is exhibited as well.
Those artists’ works on display testify to the different researches, their very countries of origin, and generational distances – a common leitmotif is clearly visible: the fusion between art and nature.
