Quarto Wood is in the very heart of Gargano. It covers about 20.000 acres extremely rich in flora and fauna. There are gigantic Turkey oaks (Quercus cerris), beeches (Fagus sylvatica), white hornbeams (Carpinus betulus), and a thick undergrowth of holly (Ilex aquifolium).

The wood can be reached from Mount Sant’Angelo to Carbonara Valley and then going up the road to San Giovanni Rotondo. Up there, several dirt paths lead to the wood – they can be travelled on foot and by mountain bike.
